About European Shooting Stars
Over two decades, EFP’s European Shooting Stars promotes and supports Europe’s up and coming acting talent with its initiative at the Berlinale. As the first ever international effort to focus on acting talent, the highly curated Shooting Stars programme shines a light on the depth and richness of acting talent in Europe. All of the actors selected by an international jury to take part in Shooting Stars have made a name for themselves already in their home countries. EFP’s initiative helps them step onto the world stage, where their talent can be seen, appreciated and supported at another level.
European Shooting Stars has introduced the public, press and industry to actors who have since become well-known and highly respected “house-hold names”, a list which includes such bright lights as: Carey Mulligan (MUDBOUND), Alicia Vikander (SUBMERGENCE) Pilou Asbaek (GAME OF THRONES), Riz Ahmed (STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE), Mikkel Boe Foelsgard (LAND OF MINE), George MacKay (CAPTAIN FANTASTIC), Ruth Negga (LOVING) and Alba Rohrwacher (MY FAMILY in Competition in Berlin 2019).
European Shooting Stars will feature four days of tailor-made programmes for the actors, consisting of meetings, presentations, networking activities and social events. Highlights will include a Press Presentation introducing the European Shooting Stars to the international media and a glamorous Awards Ceremony on the main stage of the Berlinale, where the talent will be lauded by the festival, industry and public. On the industry side: The Actor’s Industry Network (AIN) will connect the talent more deeply with key industry professionals, and there will be meet-ups with around 60 international castind directors. And the Berlinale Co-Production Market will once again provide a platform where the talent can meet with professionals who are developing and producing international co-productions. The 23nd European Shooting Stars presentation promises to continue the tradition of bringing the very best of Europe’s young acting talent to Berlinale’s world stage.
