The Vernissage of the exhibition Berlin-Shanghai Twin Cities took place on 28. October 2019. The exhibition was organised by Wang Xiaohui Art Museum and F200 Artspace on Friedrichstraße 200.
Wang Xiaohui Art Center was founded in 2003 and has hosted and promoted different international art exchanges. As an artist, who has lived a long time in Munich and Shanghai, Wang Xiaohui has great influence on the german-chinese cultural-artistic community. She is a central person in the promotion of Chinese and german cultural-artistic exchanges. The Berlin-Shanghai Twin Cities Exhibition, which was created in collaboration with the F200 Art Space, is dedicated to building an international platform for the exchange of photographs to enhance the artistic exchange between China and the West. As a first project, the photo exhibition attracted a total of 24 Chinese artists and 5 German artists, including new artists and established artists. The selection of the exhibition works was based on Open Call, whereby the topic and style of the works were not limited and gave the participating artists full freedom for imagination and creativity.
Many Chinese and German Artists and people aktive in the Sino-German art and culture scene gathered on the first day of the exhibition. At the Vernissage, the former consult general of Germany in Shanghai Peter Rothen made a speech and thanked Wang Xiaohui for her contribution in the art and cultural exchanges between Germany and China. Mr. Rothen was the Consult general for three years and was in love with the city Shanghai. He hoped to visit Shanghai in the near future.
The Berlin-Shanghai Twin Cities Exhibition showcases not only the styles of the two international metropolis, but also reflects the understanding and expression of german and Chinese photographers under the same theme. The works of the individual artists vary in styles and medium, they showcases the different perspectives and methods between the photographers from the two countries. The selected works were acknowledged by the visitors and art enthusiasts. On the Vernissage, they were some works reserved already. It was announced that the visitors could take their favourite works home from 500 Euro to make the works.
The photo exhibition in Berlin lasts until 12. November and will continue in Wang Xiaohui Art Museum in Shanghai.
