Dawanggang is a band from Beijing, that combines Chinese folk music, Chinese opera, rock, experimental music, sound art and world music, its music cannot easily be defined with words or musical forms. On October. 20 the founder of the band, Song Yuzhe played in a duet with greek musician Achilleas Sourlas at C*Space in Weißensee. Song Yuzhe played the Banjo with eight strings and sang, whereas Achillea Sourlas played the flute. The sounds from instruments and singing painted colourful paintings. The music Yuzhe sang and made created a poetic psychedelic atmosphere.
Even though some audience couldn’t understand the lyrics, still they were brought into the world of the music and wandered in the transcendental space of peace and meditation.
The Duo concert from Song Yuzhe and Achilles Sourlas created their own unique sound, which intercultural is and fits perfectly to the intimate and joyful atmosphere of the C*Space. C*Space is created by the German couple photographer Jan Seife and Katja Hellkötter, who engages in cultural exchange projects. The couple lived and worked in China for over 16 years. The Alphabet C stands for China, culture, creativity and cross-boundaries,representing the original purpose of the platform, to promote multicultural and cultural exchanges.
